This Privacy Policy describes how ChessBook Reader ("the App," "we," "us") handles information when you use the iOS application. We are committed to protecting your privacy.
ChessBook Reader does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personally identifiable information. Specifically:
PDF and EPUB files you open in the App are processed entirely on your device. No file content is ever transmitted to our servers or any third party. Converted diagrams and extracted text are stored only in the App's local cache on your device and are deleted when you remove the App.
The App may request access to your device camera to let you scan a physical chess book and import it as a PDF. Camera images are processed locally on your device and are never uploaded or stored beyond your session. You can revoke camera permission at any time in iOS Settings → ChessBook Reader.
The App offers an optional one-time in-app purchase ("Unlock") processed through Apple's App Store. We use RevenueCat to manage purchase receipts and entitlements. RevenueCat may collect limited non-personal technical data (app version, device type, purchase event timestamps) to validate your purchase and restore it on reinstall. No personally identifiable data is shared with RevenueCat.

The App includes the open-source Stockfish chess engine, which runs entirely on your device. No moves, positions, or analysis results are transmitted externally.

The App does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. It contains no social features, accounts, or data submission forms.
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
